ALLERGIES & NUTRITION
We take allergens and dietary requirements very seriously. This is why it’s incredibly important that any diner with an allergy or intolerance lets us know about their requirements before ordering. One of our kitchen team will usually come out to you to discuss your requirements in detail.
Due to the nature of of tearoom, we regularly handle all of the main 14 allergens in our kitchen. These are:
- Celery.
- Cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats).
- Crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters).
- Eggs.
- Fish.
- Lupin.
- Milk.
- Molluscs (such as mussels and oysters).
- Mustard.
- Peanuts.
- Sesame.
- Soybeans.
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
- Tree nuts (such as almons, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts).
We also handle a lot of other food items regularly, so even if your allergen isn't listed here, please don't assume that it is absent from our kitchen.
Please always let us know about your allergy prior to ordering - even better, prior to visiting, if possible.
We will discuss your requirements and work with you to find the best solution. Due to our small kitchen and limited preparation areas, regrettably, we may not be able to serve some diners with severe allergies, as cross-contamination is an inherent risk.
We have a very small kitchen area and, as such, we don't have a separate area to prepare food for those with allergies.
Whilst we can ensure that if you order a dish and request we omit a specific ingredient or allergen, we can't guarantee that it would be completely 'free-from', as cross-contamination may occur. We're always happy to discuss your specific dietary requirements with you prior to ordering (or visiting), however, if you have a particularly severe allergy
All of our food is prepared fresh to order, so more often than not we can specifically exclude items that contain gluten from your meal.
We do also have gluten-free alternatives available for some menu items, such as bread.
We don't have a separate toaster or press for our bread (as we don't have enough space in our kitchen) - as such, any hot or toasted bread items may come into contact with gluten from other sources.
We have several menu items that are suitable for vegans and many of our menu items can be adapted to omit and/or replace certain items to make them vegan-friendly.
Due to our small kitchen, we have very limited equipment. As such, some vegan items may be prepared in the same area as non-vegan items. We always do our best to ensure that vegan items don't come into contact with non-vegan items, however, if you object to this, or are vegan due to an allergy, please speak to us prior to ordering.
As mentioned above, our vegan items aren't necessarily suitable for those who eat vegan due to an allergy - lactose intolerance, for example - due to the possibility of cross-contamination.
